Top 5 Insurance Company Selects EK Health Select MPN

Leveraging the EK Health Select Medical Provider Network (MPN), a major International Insurance company was able to be California-certified and meet California new MPN regulations in less than a week. While it can take up to six months or more to certify a custom MPN in California, EK Health was able to secure a contract on a Friday and begin sending out notices the following Monday, after only a week of conversation with the Insurance giant. Since EK Health Select MPN is already approved by California's DWC, clients implementing EK Health Select MPN benefit from no delay in the approval process.

EK Health Select is a small boutique network, including direct contracts and stiff provider requirements targeted toward quality and expedient care.

History of EK Health MPN

On January 3, 2011, EK Health Services began recruiting quality medical providers with Workers’ Compensation experience throughout the state of California. EK Health began developing Workers’ Compensation medical provider networks as a result of increasing client demand for quality care and compliance in an environment once plagued with no control and increasing costs. With controls afforded by the State of California, EK Health has found success in partnering regulations with strong clinical oversight and program integration. The company will continue its pursuit and build a broad network of quality and Workers’ Compensation experienced providers in California so employers can have quality MPNs.

Changes to California MPN regulations

California's regulations require MPN’s to have signed provider acknowledgements that they (agree and elect to be a provider in each MPN). Additionally, the DWC must approve the network and coverage. These requirements are very time consuming and the process of building a custom MPN can take up six months or more to implement.  Prior to the passage of SB 863, only insurance companies or employers could apply for an MPN. With the passage of SB 863, the bill added a classification of applicants, i.e. an entity providing network services.  EK Health is one of those types of entities.

With the passage of the new regulation, EK Health was the first to submit its application and EK Health Select MPN was one of the first approved by the DWC.
